Every story has a particular theme. Some common theme examples in literature are love, evil, perseverance, etc. whether it is a fictional story or a real-life experience, every story follows a particular theme.  So today, we are going to explore some of the best types of story writing  themes, along with examples.

Coming of Age

The coming of age theme has been becoming very popular nowadays. Earlier, these themes in books were considered only for children. But now it is employed for adult stories too. This follows the main protagonist and their journey from birth to adulthood and their growth influenced by the circumstances. Some example of themes related to coming of age are:-

When you come across heroic content, you might often wonder how to develop a theme like this. Heroic content is usually portrayed with a main character who is destined to win at the end. This genre is popular because of the heroism and courage displayed by the main character, which wins the hearts of many, despite facing many challenges.

  • Robin Hood:- Robin Hood is very popular folklore who steals from rich people and offers it to the poor.

  • Percy Jackson:- is the story of a boy following his heroic deeds by defeating creatures and dark evil forces.

Individual vs. Society

Individual vs. society is a new kind of genre where an individual faces a hard time fitting with the norms of society. This is usually a rebel kind of genre or one about the center character who struggles to put up with society's expectations.

  • Huckleberry Finn- This is a novel by mark twain, which is about a character who leaves his home as he finds it hard to fit in with the dominant society.

  • Fahrenheit 451- is about a rebel who lives in a society where books are burned to prevent knowledge. The main character disagrees with this and starts saving books instead.
