Analyze and provide a detailed summary of "The Nicomachean Ethics" by Aristotle.

‘The Nicomachean Ethics’ is considered to be Aristottle’s one of the most popular work associated to the subject of Ethics. Aristotelian ethics has been reflected through ‘The Nicomachean Ethics’. ‘The Nicomachean Ethics’, is one of the most significant pieces of works on ethics in this world which is composed of ten books which are originally segregated scrolls. The title of the piece of work has been given after Nicomachus, the son of Aristotle, to whom Aristotle has dedicated this piuece of work. This work on ethics is concerned about the fact ‘How men should best live’. Aristot In a broader perspective it can be stated that, limitless use or abuse of the drug as well as alcohol cause social, economic deterioration. Moreover, the misuse of drugs and alcohol also cast upon severe impacts ion the health of the user and cause fatal diseases, organ failures. Though according to medical science Usage of drugs, which are considered to be licit, can become the cause of fast recovery as well as a good health. Again, alcohol can be considered as the psychoactive substance. Though, according to the medical science, moderate consumption of alcohol may provide the consumer, a feeling of relaxation as well as euphoria. Moreover alcohol can also be considered as the social conduit, as it assist in the creation of a warm as well as friendly atmosphere. This will be possible, if the users of alcohol are adult, sensible as well as believe in the moderate use of alcohol. However, this is not always the case. A recent reports published by Government of Australia revealed that, in the year 2017, nearly, 1,795 deaths had been observed in the country of Australia, which were induced by the misuse of drug and alcohol. The purpose of this study is to delve deep into the societal cost of drug and alcohol abuse, taking into account the real life scenario of the country of Australia. In order to find out the rationale of this study, first the severity of the misuse of alcohol and drug should be discussed in terms of death rate, crime rate, healthcare facility hazards and economic productivity. According to the reports of the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) there has been a massive increase in the drug induced deaths in the country of Australia, a major part of the death rates consists opioid-induced deaths. The report further highlighted that in the year 2017 there had been 1,084 deaths, and the reason behind this were opioid. Even opioid-induced deaths had been observed in the age group ranging from 15 to 64 years. As per the minute details provided by the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC), the deathrate observed among the age bracket 15 to 64 years is 6.7 per 100,000 people. Moreover, nearly 8 of the 10 deaths were marked as accidental. As per the data published by ABS, in the year 2018, Australia witnessed 1,366 deaths in the year 2017, which were basically due to excessive consumption of alcohol. More specifically, it can be stated that, the death rate induced by alcohol was5.1 per 100,000 person, which is substantially high as the previously estimated alcohol-induced deaths which was 4.5 per 100,000 person, during the year 2012. This was considered to be the highest of all records regarding alcohol deaths, as compared to the alcohol deaths of previous two decades. All these impose severe burden on the Australian society. As the substantially high rate of drug and alcohol abuse increases the tendency to commit crimes like, murder and rape. Further, the absenteeism among the factory workers, the casual attitude, and worker manager disputes are also fueled due to the uncontrolled use of alcohol and drugs. Along with this the severe health problems are observed among the users of drug and alcohol, which increases pressure on the health care center and hospital unnecessarily. In this case two types of research designs are used. One of them is descriptive research design. Under the descriptive research design, several case studies of drug as well as alcohol misuse are studied. This include-case studies on accidents due to excessive consumption of drugs, accidents of drunkards while driving. Again, the case studies evidencing accidents of drunk workers, during shift hours, in factories while operating machines, are also analyzed.  Further case studies evidencing increasing crime rates among the alcohol as well as drug addicts are also studied. Case studies focusing on the issues of decreasing rates of the productivity of the firms are also studied. Almost all the case studies indicate to the fact that, the higher is the rates of drug and alcohol abuse, the greater are the rates of accidental death, absenteeism at factories and criminal activities.. As the part of the descriptive research design, several surveys have been conducted. The participants of such survey s are doctors as well as health care workers of top 10 health care centers as well as hospitals of Northern part of Australia. In this case the participants are selected through the process of random sampling. The population was the total number of healthcare workers, doctors as well as nurses of all the 20 health care center and hospitals. With the help of random sampling the total 5 healthcare professionals are selected from each of the healthcare center and hospitals. Hence the sample size in this case was 100. After selecting the sample size, a survey is conducted. During the survey the participants are asked about the number of people who visit the respective centers and hospitals asking treatment for severe health issue induced by excessive alcohol as well as drug consumption, the severity as well as the consequences of the health problems. In the conclusion, it can be said that, with an aim of suggesting ideal path to follow ethics in life Aristotle has combined his metaphysics with the pre-socretic philosophy in this piece of work. Hence, this piece of work provides some practical application of ethics rather than the mere theoretical concepts of ethics. It can be said that this piece of work has beautifully demonstrated the practical implication of an ethical living and how it inspire a good living further.
