Answer:

Introduction

The direction that a corporation takes is often defined by decisions adopted by its leaders. Apple Inc. has experienced different leadership under the late Steve Jobs; the founder and CEO of the company and his successor Tim Cook.

Steve Jobs is regarded as a product fixated leader who denied his staff the autonomy to undertake their roles and who encouraged a work culture of stringent responsibility. Further, Steve has been termed as a highly-conservative co-worker who commanded brilliance from his employees. Job’s hired highly trained individuals and placed them in positions that were compatible with their particular talents and capabilities and would bluntly criticize and fire them if they failed to deliver per his expectation (Isaacson 2012). Steve leadership style edged more on dictatorship as he didn’t embrace consultation, wanted to have his way regardless of the consequences while blaming others for failures and taking credit for achievement of other people.

Tim Cook has been regarded more of a consultative and transformative leader who centered his focus on the product, staff, shareholders and customers. Tim is an approachable and encourages teamwork and transparency in the company. Additionally, Tim is known for concentrating on core business by focusing on existing products that are excelling in the market over continuously innovating. Further, Tim holds himself accountable for the decisions made (Weinberger 2016).

In conclusion, despite being natured by Steve Jobs, Tim Cook has pursued distinctive leadership by upholding the best practices by his predecessor while adopting new ones to achieve organizational success.
