Question:

Discuss health policy, national initiatives, and professional advocacy roles and their contributions to the design of quality and performance improvement programs.

Define a performance improvement model.

Answer:

Health care is essential to the lives of all human beings. Every other person must be healthy, for them to be able to carry out their daily chores. Health is therefore part and parcel of all human beings. As a result, quality improvement programs are important in the lives of the people, since they take care of the needs of the same people. Human health is important than anything else, and should therefore be considered essential (Shaw et al, 2015). It should be put in the fore front of all other essentials, since it carries almost the largest percentage of the total performance of the body. Programs set to assist people in a certain society should be quality, and of the highest level, to avoid bringing about other complications in the future. Social health is as important as community health, and should be quality. It should be given first priority, since it determines the future of the people living in that society, depending on the services rendered in the same society.

Health policy refers to the set goals, or a certain target that a society or the government wants to achieve within a specific period of time (Jeffs et al, 2013). The world health organization also takes care of health pololicies, and makes sure that they are implemented. It also ensures that the same health policies are met and accomplished within the specified period of time, in the society of target. It also follows up to ensure that health policies are achieved in the best way, as planned. An example of a health policy is the free tests for tuberculosis, accompanied by free medication. The test is carried out in the specified region, and countries, and the entire region is covered within a specified period of time. Health policies therefore act as the breakthrough in the lives of many people, who benefit from them. The agencies concerned with health ensure that they reach and cover the society with quality health, which by providing best drugs for communicable diseases, and preventive measures for dangerous diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and malaria.

National initiatives refer to the opinion of the government, on an issue such as healthy. Since the government is part and parcel of the national health programming, it contributes much in terms of education, vies, advices, and mass media education (Lukas et al, 2008). It also knows better where quality performance needs to be applied best. The government is therefore as important as any other partaker in the health sector. Once the nation comes up with an accepted initiative, it makes sure that the same initiative is accomplished, sine it follows up from the beginning to the end. The government therefore plays a very crucial role in the quality improvement programs.

Professional advocacy is the defined as the cornerstone of nursing. It increases the chances of customer presentation, in as much as conversation is concerned. Nurses act as the advocates of patients (et al, 2008). They get the primary information, before it gets to the doctors. They therefore handle issues at their basic level, and an understand patients better than the doctors. Nurses are therefore entitled to the delicate information needed by the government on the frequency of illness and patients. They should therefore be careful when handling patients. During their conversations, they should be keen enough to ensure that they get and write down each and every important point given by the patient. The reason behind being keen is the writing of a report. Since each clinic or healthy center should give a report of the progress of the facility to the relevant office, it should be accurate and precise, to avoid mistakes and issues in the future.

Quality improvement facilities are crucial facilities needed by the society which contribute to the improvement of the health of the people in the society. Improvement simply means from a good position to a better position (McAlearney et al, 2011). A society therefore needs to have an improvement, to cater for the needs of the people around, and other outsiders too. It should be able to give the best out of the best in its performance. The government is entitled to most of the improvements in health facilities, which meet the needs of the people in the society. A society with improved health facilities has developments. There are also models who guide people on quality performance. Directors of health and professional doctors give ideas to the doctors in the society hospitals. By sharing experiences, they learn more from the professors. They should however practice what they hear or learn, to increase effectiveness.
