ENGL 518 Writing Software Documentation

The purpose of the proposal is to gain approval to conduct research on the problems that are arising from the new Computer Science building downtown in City Center Plaza and from there research possible ways to fix the problems.

Dear Cory and Anne,

Thank you for writing about the issues faced in Computer Science Department of Boise State University. It needed to be brought up as the New Computer Science Building faces parking issue and there exists very less information about the building. As you are aware that there were multiple applicants to raise funds, we had better proposals and we gave your proposal careful consideration. As only one had to be selected from a group of teams, therefore the selection decision was much more difficult.

Although we were impressed by your selection of issue, we have chosen a different team to materialize their proposal. However, your proposal does not pertain to a particular individual who can address this issue. While you have described the complexity of the problem, it cannot be resolved unless a particular individual or member of the management holds responsibility for it. The proposal lacks intellectual integrity as without taking initiative and allocating appropriate budget for the problem, the parking issue cannot be resolved. The proposal only designs the complexity of the problem and does not provide a structure of the budget. Therefore, it does not seem practical to resolve the identified problem. It is not necessary that there would be volunteers to help resolve the issue. The project shall go in vain if there are not enough volunteers.

While I do not doubt the outstanding quality of your team and that you would be able to deliver this project well, there are a few issues that need careful consideration. The proposal seems vague and lacks any clarity as to how the issue of parking can be researched sufficiently. There is a gap in providing direction as there are not appropriate references that can act as guidance for resolving the problem. I encountered proofreading errors that made me question their credibility. A few sentence fragments were too long and needs to be broken in small phrases for better understanding.

However, in a few months if we choose to look for another proposal that can be put into action, we shall re-consider yours. We shall workout the above identified issues such as budget and scope of project so that it we can resolve parking issues and information availability faced in Computer Science Department of Boise State University. I regret to inform you that this research proposal cannot be authorized.

I would be very willing to meet with you to discuss this proposal and provide guidance for you if you choose to revise it. At this point, I’d let this aside and choose another proposal for funding. Maybe, with a few revisions and modifications in the project proposal, we shall be able to implement the project proposal.
