PHIL100 Introduction to philosophy has been offered by Macalester College to familiarize students with an introduction to literature, problems, and methods of philosophy. The course aims to identify and consider the main and recurring issues of the philosophy. More specifically, the focus is placed on making awareness of the importance of philosophical issues and learning to provide rationally justifiable solutions. This course is precisely designed to assist students in developing their analytical skills in thinking, reading, and writing.

The unit is specifically designed to introduce different types of philosophical arguments and ideas. This unit familiarizes students with the concept of philosophy through its involvement in a number of key philosophical topics and gives the source for a fundamental philosophical approach in the process. Major debates and topics focus on epistemology, critical thinking, and metaphysics.
The unit presents other 'great philosophical questions' chosen to includes areas such as philosophical anthropology, religious philosophy, and value theory. PHIL100 Introduction to philosophy is a full-time course for postgraduate students. As a result, the participation grade will be based on consistent participation in class discussions and regular attendance at lectures. The a brings 20% weightage on critical thinking or logical reasoning, while the research essay brings 40% and the semester exam brings 20% weightage. For this reason, students must demonstrate relevant knowledge and competence in developing arguments and research.
However, the late task submission is not permissible. Late submission of assignments will result in a daily penalty of 3%. To pass the course, students must obtain a certain grade or minimum mark on the assessment tasks. To qualify or excel in this course, students must achieve a minimum of 50% of the total grades.
