The views and perception of workers towards unions are critical as it comes with significant implications for the health and vitality of the trade unions. The workers who believe the unions are an instrument for improving the quality of their lives has a high probability of becoming the members of the union, support the activities of the association and also participate in the affairs of the union. The trade unions can only be effective if the workers believe they need the unions and also when the workers believe that the unions belong to them.

The belief in unions reflects a moral commitment to the importance of unionism. In many cases, the unions advocate for the working conditions of the workers, the health of employees and also the compensation of the workers (Budd, 2013). In this context, the workers have developed a positive attitude towards unions, and they vote for their preferred union that they believe a staunch supporter for the well-being of employees. Unions also get votes from employees based because they advocate for fair treatment of employees. The unions have been up to reduce wage inequality considering they increase more salaries for the low and middle-income earners than it raises for the high-wage employees. The unions also raise more wages for blue-collar workers than for administrative employees and more for people without college degrees (Friis, 2016).

Following such insights, employees value the unions as this stand to fight for their employment rights and they vote for unions based on their beliefs on the unions. The reception of the unions by the workers relies mostly on the fact that the workers are an advocate for their rights and well-being in the employment sector.
