Question:

Health care administrators direct and coordinate medical services in facilities such as hospitals, public health agencies, and managed care organizations (U.S. Department of Labor, 2015). In order to accomplish this directive, health care administrators need to be current on mandates, health initiatives, and population health programs. This requires the exploration of a variety of resources on health initiatives and public health programs.

This week, you have been provided with a small sample of resources that can help inform a health care administrator. Review this week Learning Resources to determine the defined groups and outcomes on the international, federal, and state level. For this Discussion, you are not limited to what has been provided. Select one state (Washington State) and one federal initiative. If you live outside of the United States, select a local and a countrywide initiative.

Answer:

Healthcare initiatives impacts the speed of innovation and management practices by providing education to leaders and healthcare administrators regarding the improvement of healthcare services. Health initiatives helps to strengthen and mobilize education and health promotion activities at local, national and international levels. The initiatives are directed towards improvement of the health of individuals. This essay describes an international, state and federal initiative (Www.cms.gov, 2017).

International initiative

The Environmental Impact Initiative constitutes a part of the planning, policy and international affairs directorate, which is under the Health Products and Food Branch (HPFB) of Health Canada. The mandate of the Environmental Impact Initiative is to carry out assessments of substances present in products regulated or controlled by the Food and Drugs Act. This initiative aims to reduce the impacts these substances have on the environment and on individuals. To carry out this mandate, the environmental impact initiative division planned the development of an environmental assessment regulation for assessment of the products. The initiative is also aimed at developing best management approaches or practices in order to evaluate the products regulated by the Food and Drugs Act. The mandate of the Environmental Impact Initiative also involves the Chemical Management Plan. The Chemical Management Plan is a joint venture of the Environment Canada and Health Canada. This initiative was developed in order to protect and improve the environment from harm caused by hazardous chemicals. It also addressed the health and safety of the Canadian citizens, in order to protect them from such hazardous chemicals. It also provides various measures for proper management of these chemicals (Www.canada.ca, 2017).

State initiative

The Healthier Washington Initiative helps to improve the lives of the people by enabling them to experience healthier lives and receive care, which is highly efficient and affordable for the individuals living in Washington. The goals involve the development of a regional and collaborative approach to enable building of healthier communities. Additionally, the initiative also aims to enable the healthcare systems to focus on an individual person as a whole by integrating the ways that addresses the behavioral and physical health needs of the individuals of the State. The initiative also aims to increase the importance of quality over quantity by improving the ways for payment of services. The initiative 1 under this act aims to provide incentives for the healthcare workers, who are involved in providing high quality care for patients. The Accountable Community of Health (ACH) of each region will be able to carry out projects aimed at delivering effective medications to individuals. The regional goals will be involved in the capacity building of the health systems, redesigning of care delivery by proving integrated behavioral and physical health services and to carry out promotion of disease prevention and  health. The initiative 2 will help to provide new services including  support to caregivers and family members, thereby enabling people to obtain care from the environment of their homes rather than being admitted to intensive care units (Www.hca.wa.gov, 2017).

Federal Initiative

The Health Data Initiative (HDI) aims to make data related to health openly available to the public and also involves dissemination of the data across the healthcare systems and providing continuous education to the care providers. The goal of this initiative is to improve the health, healthcare and delivery of services by promoting the importance of data and use of this data in various healthcare sectors as well as in other organizations (Www.hhs.gov, 2017).

The consequences of the shifting of the focus from individuals to population health involves an economic burden. Due to the increase of various diseases that decrease life expectancy, the healthcare sectors are burdened with increased spending and reduced labor supplies. However, such initiatives will also increase the levels of assistance provided to the public.
