Question:

With the global perspective in mind, conduct a literature review (include multiple literatures) of the virtual enterprise integration. Review should include technology used, needs for the management of such technologies, lesson learned and un-answered questions for future research. Eg. the review of technology should include answers to the questions like what is new in the technologies identified and what effect have brought to the VE etc. Similar questions should be posed for needs for the management of such technologies, lesson learned form VE.

Answer:

Introduction

In this report a literature review has been done topic of virtual Enterprise integration. A virtual Enterprise can be considered to be temporary alliance of various globally distributed independent enterprises which generally work as together as product and services (Varela, Putnik & Cruz-Cunha, 2012). A VE (Virtual Enterprise) is considered to use PMS (performance management system) in the kernel for its strategic management system (SMS) for achieving high level of efficiency and integration among various form of various enterprise. In an enterprise there are certain number of target which is needed to be achieved which provide strategic objectives and this is generally considered to be success and maintenance of proper competitive advantage. For proper monitoring of objectives and providing better decision making a PMS is needed to be developed in many cases. The ultimate goal of system is to provide information regarding the various aspects of enterprise by making use of set of information. It mainly aims in providing necessary action plan and reaching the strategic objectives.

Discussion

Technology used

Performance management system is a kind of DSS or decision support system which generally helps checking the present condition of an enterprise and provide comparison with various strategic objectives. It is considered to be important or fundamental tool for control management of business (Panetto, Jardim-Goncalves & Molina, 2012). In an enterprise there are certain number of targets which are generally needed to be achieved and this are considered to be an important factor for success and maintenance of various competitive advantage. The indicators generally measure generally take in the various efficiency and effectiveness of enterprise which are generally considered to be different matters like financial, productivity, quality or adoptability and various areas of organization which areas like store, production and lastly purchase (Wang, & Xu, 2012). The option of indicators generally depends various parameters like name, purpose, value which is needed to be achieved at any period of time.

Needs for management of such technologies

During the deployment phase and achievement of maximum benefits from the PMS it is necessary to make use of some bench mark methods in an individual method or in the management of VE (Bi, Da Xu & Wang, 2014). Enterprise has some reference value which is generally set to provide forecast or objectives for various indicators in order to compare with some real value of data which generally correspond to the initial value of planning (Moisescu, 2012). There are generally three factors involved in benchmarking are internal, competitive and lastly out of sector.

Internal it mainly focusses on establishment of various individual enterprise of transport at various level at department and process. Competitive generally analyzes on the various principal of competitive work. The last point mainly identifies better place of work, taking all the kinds of enterprise.

New technologies

New technologies which can be easily classified into three major categories namely knowledge Management (KM), Enterprise resource planning (ERP), work management. Knowledge Management technologies are generally classified into various designed tools which is generally used for storing and retrieving of knowledge. These are inclusive of document management, thesaurus, intelligent document (Panetto, Jardim-Goncalves & Molina, 2012). Work management can be defined as technologies which are defined as collection of certain number of tools like Email, scheduling of meeting, Forum, collaboration, groupware and management of documents. Email help in accelerating communication among various people from different regions of the world (Vallejo, Romero & Molina, 2012). Forum provides a shared space to group which is used for structure decision. Document management is generally used for storing large value of data in an organized way.

Effect bought to virtual Enterprise

It has provided a certain number of changes to evolution of enterprise like:

  • Strength is offered by traditional enterprises.
  • Weakness which the traditional enterprises have to encountered.
  • Growing importance of customer based services.
  • It has changed the end to end ultimate solution which is generally offered for serving a much better way.

Conclusion

From above discussion it can be easily concluded that this report is all about literature review on Virtual Enterprise Integration. A VE is generally considered to be PMS which is used in the kernel for strategic management system. A proper review has been done on the various technologies which are used and need for management of such kind of technologies. Various other question in relation to VE has been done in the above pages of the report. An explanation has been provided regarding the performance management system which is generally considered to be a kind of DSS. All the three kinds of technologies namely knowledge management, Enterprise resource planning and work management has been discussed.
